Campagne Shabby Chic

 

When we came to live here in this house, we did not have a dining table, (wel not a very good one), so a friend and my love put this one together. From an old woodfloor  out of a factory in Hungary, ( I remember telling this in an older post, but o well).

First i had it in a realy dark brown colour,  later i painted it white, but it got too many stains. We cleaned it of off  the paint and i used a white paint to make a white wash effect. And the legs are all white. It turned  out realy nice i think! ;)

Op het moment dat we hier kwamen wonen, hadden we niet echt een eettafel, deze is gemaakt door een vriend en mijn lief. Van een oude fabrieks vloer uit Hongarije (ik heb dit al eerder geschreven in een andere post, ach ja).

Ik had de tafel eerst in een hele donkere bruine beits, toen in het wit geschilderd, en nu heb ik met een witte grondverf een witte waas gemaakt d.m.v. inwrijven. Hij is heel mooi geworden al zeg ik het zelf. ;)

Glas in Lood/Leaded light windows

The beautiful windows in the churches of France, the colours and forms are so beautiful. Difficult to make it look nice on a picture but a girl can try ;)

De geweldige glas in lood ramen zijn niet zo mooi op foto te zetten als dat ze met het echte oog bekeken kunnen worden. Maar een meisje kan het proberen;)

 

 

Fun Shopping

I was at different stores over a view days and found some nice things for not to much money, fun fun!!

Heb onlangs bij verschillende winkels leuke dingen gekocht, voor niet al te veel geld. ;) 

These glasses are a bit inspired by the middle-ages, when they used their vingers (no forks and knives), the glas had these little rossetes everywhere so the glas would not slip out of the hand.

Deze glazen heb ik bij “Nijhof”vandaan, erg de moeite voor het omrijden als je een keer in de buurt bent van Baarn, bij Soest.

Prachtige spullen van verf van Painting the Past, tot een hele afdeling met Riviera Maison. Je  kan er erg hebberig van worden, ik kon me deze keer redelijk inhouden, ha ha. ;)

 

These glasheart I found at a realy beautiful store  the were € 5,00 each.

Deze glazen harten heb ik gekocht bij “De Tuin van Middenmeer'”. € 5,00, Erg de moeite om er eens voor om te rijden, het is niet goedkoop maar je doet er veel inspiratie op.

 

 

These rotan baskets i will use for candles now, and for flowers in the summer, the where € 5,99. I have seen them for a lot more elsewhere.

 

 

Deze rotan mandjes (met glazenvaas) heb ik bij de “Gamma” gevonden, (ook gezien bij de Karwij). Voor € 5,99 geen geld! Ook gezien bij Riviera Maison voor € 29,95.

Weekend Pie

Its cold and windy, no fun to be outside. So we stay in with this nice appelpie that i made. Have a nice weekend ;)

























Het is koud en winderig, niet leuk om buiten te zijn. Dus blijven we binnen, met deze heerlijk zelf gemaakte appeltaart. Fijn weekend ;)

The dark days before Christmas/De donkere dagen voor kerst

When i lived in California for almost 6 years, i never ones missed the seasons that we have here in Holland. I never missed wearing sox, a winter coat (or a coat for that mather). Never missed thouching the cold floor getting out of bed in the mornings, or having to turn on the lights at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. And lets nog forget that we do not have white winters anymore, its just cold wet and windy. The only thing i did miss (besides the HEMA, dutch chees and peanutsaus) was the long light evenings in the summer time. But its winter time now and eventhough i like candles, i love candles! I miss the long evenings when the sun stays out late. But i make the best out of the situation and start lighting the candles at 5 pm. Thats the one thing i miss in summer, by the time its dark its also time to go to bed!

Toen ik nog in California woonde voor zo'n 6 jaar, heb ik niet één keer de wisseling van de seizoenen gemist. Nooit heb ik het gemist om sokken aan te doen of een winter jas( of überhaubt een jas). Nooit heb ik de kou gemist als je winterochtend moet op staan, of het feit dat de lichten aan moeten om 4 uur middags. En laten we niet vergeten dat we tegenwoordig helemaal geen witte winter meer hebben, het is alleen koud, nat en winderig. Het enige wat ik wel heb gemist (buiten de HEMA, Nederlandse kaas en pindasaus) is de lange zomeravonden. Maar het is nu winter en ook al heb ik altijd kaarsen aan, ik hou van kaarsen!. Ik mis toch de lange zomeravonden. Maar ik maak er het beste van en om 17 uur gaan bij mij de kaarsjes aan. Dat is toch heel gezellig er gaat niets boven kaarslicht.
En dat is dan ook het enige dat ik mis in de zomer, tegen de tijd dat het donker is dan kunnen we ook naar bed.

There is even a tree that grows on top of the roof!



Dit huis zal na verloop van tijd helemaal afbrokkelen denk ik.
Er groeit zelfs een boom boven op het dak.

A family trip to France

A view days away turned into a week in Amsterdam, and after we where home for
a couple of days, we left to go to the north of france for a week.
We stayed in a citadelle in Montmédy. A cousin of my mom has owned a house there for many years and we stayed there many years ago. It was nice to be back, and nothing has chanced. They have fiked up most of the houses (inside the citadelle). But other than that it's like the first world war has just ended not to lang ago.

Een aantal dagen weg bleek een week te worden in Amsterdam, daarna nog een week naar noord Frankrijk geweest met de familie.
Een nicht van mijn moeder heeft een huis in een citadelle in Montmédy, ze hebben er lang geleden een vervallen huisje gekocht en helemaal van binnen opnieuw opgebouwd.
Jaren geleden hebben we er verschillende keren rond gedoold in de gangen (met zaklamp in het donker natuurlijk), geweldig. En nu als volwassenen weer!
